The first phase of restoration work on the chapel is now complete.

01/09/26

This project forms part of ‘Demain, un monde électrique’ (Tomorrow, an electric world), a series of initiatives aimed at ensuring the long-term commemoration, in 2025, of the 250th André-Marie Ampère birthday.

The first phase of restoration work on the chapel-sheepfold at the Maison d’André-Marie Ampère, which began in April 2026, is now complete. It involved the restoration of the roof structure, the repair of the roof, the installation of a false ceiling, and the refurbishment of the doors and floors.

The second phase of works will involve insulating the building and carrying out all the interior refurbishments, notably to create a space for temporary exhibitions, thereby making the venue more welcoming to all visitors, particularly young people.

The fundraising appeal for the project is still open and can be accessed HERE on the Fondation du Patrimoine’s official website.

This project was carried out with the support of the Fondation du Patrimoine, thanks to donations raised as part of the fundraising campaign organised to mark Ampère’s 250th anniversary. It also received support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.
